Bay Country Landing

The side-wheel steamboat "Kent" heads down river for the Chesapeake Bay in 1894. The scene is of a rural boat landing on the Wicomico River of Maryland's Eastern Shore, not far from Salisbury. In the days before bridges spanned the Chesapeake, steam packets such as "Kent" were the main link to the city of Baltimore and its markets, across the Bay.
