Harry S Truman

Assuming the office of President following the death of Franklin Roosevelt in April 1945, he put an end to World War II within four months. A quiet man with a good sense of humor, he was also an accomplished pianist who frequently serenaded guests at the White House. Known for his no-nonsense attitude towards doing things, his desktop bore the famous sign, "the buck stops here."
