"United States" passing the Statue of Liberty as it departs New York Harbor on a run to Europe in 1954. "United States" was affectionately known as "The Big Ship" and was THE liner to ride back in the 1950's...movie stars, royalty, you name it, most were pictured on the decks of the "United States" at one time or another. Launched in 1952, she incredibly still holds the transatlantic speed record for a vessel of her type!
